Why attend

This session will feature a showcase of existing global mechanisms for the conservation of overlooked species and create a collaborative and open space for practitioners to share learning, engage in critical discussions on the effectiveness of measures and build meaningful partnerships between participants working on similar challenges of species conservation.

Session Description

The session will be 90 minutes in total and will be structured as follows:

30 minutes: Presentations/panel showcasing global mechanisms for conserving overlooked species conservation by Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP), SHOAL, Mandai Nature, and Synchronicity Earth

55 minutes: Interactive discussions

- 5 minutes: Discussion to identify thematic groups for fishbowl discussions, depending on the number and interests of participants e.g. regions such as Southeast Asia, taxa (freshwater fish, invertebrates, amphibians), conservation approaches, other specific issues such as data deficiency for understudied species

- 35 minutes: Facilitated discussions in thematic groups

- 15 minutes: Feedback to the rest of group and discussion

5 minutes: Conclusions
