Yenifer DÍAZ

Biography

Program Director for the Panama Audubon Society with over 10 years of experience in Environmental Management and Citizen Science. She has led the "Green Classrooms"  (Aulas Verdes) environmental education project since 2009, which has been implemented in 4 provinces in Panama, it has raised awareness among more than 35,000 children and young people.

She has been monitoring shorebirds since 2012 and is part of the team of co-authors of the scientific paper "Monitoring the Winter Population of Shorebirds in the Bay of Panama."

She has supported national planning processes for ecosystem conservation, including the National Plan for Communication, Education, Awareness, and Public Participation in Panama's Wetlands. She has also supported the management instruments for the Panama Bay Wetland Ramsar Site: the Panama Bay Wetland Conservation Plan, its site plan, and implementation tools.

At the regional level, she has participated as co-author of investment plans for the conservation of mid-elevation forests in Central America and northern South America and the forests on the Caribbean slopes of Central America and northern Colombia.
