Biography

Stefania is an Oxford University MBiol graduate from Iceland, specialising in applied marine biology and conservation. She is currently a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford, working on the NATURE Impacts initiative—a collaboration with WWF aimed at creating a globally inclusive platform for tracking countries’ progress towards reversing biodiversity loss and identifying priority actions for achieving a Nature Positive future.

Alongside this role, Stefania is pursuing a PhD at the University of Sydney in Josh Cinner's Thriving Ocean Research Hub where her research focuses on coral reef fisheries. Her previous experience includes an internship at the Marine Stewardship Council, where she built on her master’s research which sought to quantify potential contributions of fisheries operations to global biodiversity goals.

Broadly, Stefania is motivated by using interdisciplinary approaches to address biodiversity declines in marine habitats and to bridge the gap between science and policy.
