Biography

Pakkasem Tongchai is a landscape architect and water and wetlands practitioner with over nine years of experience in sustainable landscape design and ecological management. His award-winning 2017 thesis on floodplain ecosystem processes earned him the IFLA Student Award, reflecting his early dedication to integrating design with ecological resilience. Over the years, he has contributed to research on Nature-based Solutions and GIS in Thailand, advancing innovative approaches to water and wetland conservation.

Currently, Pakkasem serves as a Programme Officer at IUCN, working on Urban Resilience and Wetland programmes. Passionate about rivers and ecosystems, he brings a multidisciplinary perspective that bridges landscape architecture, science, and policy to enhance sustainability, resilience, and quality of life for both urban and rural communities.
