Naomie KAYITESI MANISHIMWE

Biography

Naomie Kayitesi M. is a civil engineer with a master’s degree in water engineering. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, where her research focuses on the impact of land use and climate change on catchment hydrology in tropical regions, particularly through advanced geospatial analysis and hydrological modelling approaches.

Naomie has over nine years of experience working with various academic, government, and non-government organizations in the water and forestry sectors. Notably, she worked with IUCN in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (ESARO), where she played a pivotal role in monitoring and implementing Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) program across several countries.

In her current role as a Programme Officer at IUCN’s Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Management Hub, Naomie is responsible for aligning NbS initiatives across the Union. She conducts portfolio analysis, develops communication content, and supports the design and implementation of NbS projects that address critical environmental and societal challenges. Her work is pivotal in advancing IUCN’s efforts to promote sustainable ecosystem management and enhance global resilience to climate change.

Naomie is passionate about integrating scientific research with practical solutions to improve environmental outcomes and foster sustainable development.
