Miguel TORRES

Biography

Miguel Torres is the Red List Systems Manager at IUCN, where he oversees the infrastructure and software underpinning the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. He holds an MSc in Civil Engineering – Planning from the University of Porto and began his career in that university on projects in sustainability, transport, and geospatial analysis. Miguel later worked at UNEP-WCMC in Cambridge as a Geospatial Developer and Data Manager, and subsequently at England’s National Cancer Registry, managing patient data for statistical research. After several years in the private sector as a Software Engineer, he joined IUCN in 2021, where he now leads the redevelopment of the Species Information System among other responsibilities.
