Marc Vilahur

Biography

Environmental scientist specialized in natural area management and green economy. Pioneer of the land stewardship movement and the development of land stewardship economy. Cofounder, board member, and president of the Catalan Conservation Network (2010–2020). Founding member of the ELCN (European Land Conservatoin Network) and manager of the Natura 2000 areas of Sils and Les Gavarres. Currently serving as Director General for Environmental Policies and Natural Heritage in the Government of Catalonia, leading the systematization of biodiversity information, the creation of three new Natural Parks, and the promotion of innovative participatory management across Catalonia’s Natura 2000 protected areas (covering 32% of the territory).
