Maeve Nightingale the Regional Coordinator for the IUCN Coastal and Marine Programme in IUCN Asia as well as the regional focal person for governance and rights specializing in gender equality and social inclusion. Maeve holds a BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology with Ecology from University of London and an MSc in Fisheries Management and Aquaculture from the University Bangor in North Wales and has 24 years international experience working with International Development Organizations.
Her work focuses on addressing the multiple issues associated with sustainable coastal resource management in South and Southeast Asia, including; Coastal resources governance / Integrated Coastal Management/ Marine Spatial Planning, Marine Protected Areas management, Critical Habitats Restoration, Coastal resilience and Livelihoods, Community Management and Small Scale Fisheries, Blue Carbon management and Marine Plastic Pollution with a focus on two main subregions; the Bay of Bengal (a Large Marine Ecosystem) and the Coral Triangle, as well as programmes in Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Pakistan and Myanmar.
