Biography
Simón Crisóstomo Loncopán
Born in Curarrehue, in a Mapuche community, he grew up in a communal environment where he assumed leadership roles from an early age. He is a geographer by profession and has specialized in Indigenous geographies, territorial mapping, and the governance of protected areas with Indigenous peoples. He is currently the president of the Mapuche Communities Association Winkulmapu in Curarrehue, Chile, and serves as Territorial Planning Coordinator for the Inclusive Conservation Initiative (ICI) Füta Mawiza. He is also part of the team of the Observatorio Ciudadano in Chile.
