Eduardo CHANKIN CHANCAYUN

Biography

Eduardo Chankin Chancayun is a descendant of the Lacandon Maya culture, known for maintaining a deep connection with nature. This heritage inspired him to found and lead Kenatbi AC, an organization dedicated to conservation. “Kenatbi,” in the Lacandon Maya language, means “let’s protect,” and reflects its mission to safeguard biodiversity by integrating ancestral knowledge with modern science to develop conservation strategies.

He is a member of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication and, in 2024, was recognized as a Change Agent by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
