Dorcas has fourteen (14) years of experience in design and implementation of several natural resource management projects/ programmes in Africa particularly Ghana. Her specific areas of expertise are Nature-based Solutions (NbS)-forest landscape restoration, marine and coastal management, Sahel/dryland management, ecosystem-based climate change mitigation and adaptation and natural resource governance, particularly promotion of gender and social inclusion in natural resource management (NRM) decision-making.
Dorcas has contributed to mainstreaming NbS into various national policies, frameworks and strategies in Ghana. She is very passionate about communities’ livelihoods and has facilitated the development of strategies to enhance benefits to communities as part of project management. She has tremendous experience in facilitating the creation and strengthening of community-based NRM structures, for example Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs), Protected Area Management Units (PAMAUs). Dorcas is very skilful in resource mobilisation for natural resources projects implementation.
Dorcas holds a master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development and a BSc. in Agriculture from the University of Ghana-Legon. She also holds a certificate in Landscape Governance, Restoration and Privatization from Wageningen University.
Dorcas is currently the Head of IUCN Project Office in Ghana and National Coordinator for NbS Guinean Forest Project.
