Claudia MAYER

Biography

Dr. Claudia Mayer is a senior expert in international cooperation, biodiversity, climate policy, and sustainable development, with more than 20 years of professional experience at GIZ/GTZ. She holds a PhD in Economic Geography, focusing on eco-labels and sustainability in global agricultural value chains. She has spent over 15 years working in Latin America, leading bilateral and regional programmes on biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable value chains. Her work included high-level policy advice to governments, cooperation with scientific institutions, and implementation of innovative financing and REDD+ mechanisms. In addition. She is recognized for her ability to bridge science, policy, and practice, and for her leadership in international environmental governance, ecosystem restoration, and climate–development linkages. She brings extensive intercultural experience, a strong international network, and proven expertise at the science–policy interface.
