Alex Bowmer

Biography

Dr Alex Bowmer is Director of Natural History at On the Edge (OtE), a media and conservation organisation, whose vision it is to bring nature back into our everyday lives. They do this by using pop culture entertainment to reach audiences in formats they recognise - whether that's in their social media feeds, through mobile games, in film and TV or podcasts.

At On the Edge, Alex leads the global conservation programme (the On the Edge Fund) and bridges the gap between science and communications, enabling the accurate representation of science and conservation in On the Edge's storytelling. Through pairing conservationists and storytellers together, OtE are not just actively protecting nature, but also forging a meaningful relationship between people and nature.

Alex's has an extensive background in applied anthropology in conservation and veterinary public health, and in science communication.
