Two decades of regional conservation collaboration: a review of SICFAB's 24 year journey

Session Description

This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the activities and achievements of the Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabia’s Biodiversity (SICFAB) over the past 24 years. Since its inception, SICFAB has served as a vital platform for collaboration among regional and international experts in the fields of taxonomy, species conservation, habitat protection and policy development. Key milestones include the facilitation of IUCN Red List assessments, the development of national and regional conservation strategies and the promotion of capacity building through training and knowledge exchange. The talk reflects on SICFAB’s evolving role in shaping biodiversity conservation across the Arabian Peninsula and highlights its continued relevance in addressing emerging conservation challenges.
