Session Description
Conservation must go beyond protecting ecosystems alone, it must respect human dignity, rights, and leadership to endure. This session, From Principles to Practice: Human Rights in Equitable Conservation Practice, brings together diverse voices in a fireside chat to explore how safeguards, human rights, and women’s leadership are shaping more equitable conservation outcomes. Participants will hear stories from global and local women leaders, including Guatemalan partners, reflecting on the indivisibility of human and environmental rights and the importance of community-driven approaches in building resilience. The format is designed to be conversational, interactive, and reflective - moving beyond formal panels to foster openness and exchange. This dialogue aims to highlight practical lessons, elevate lived experiences, and inspire commitments to embed rights at the center of conservation practice, ensuring that both people and nature thrive together.Organised by
