Session Description

Governments, conservation organizations, and the private sector are increasingly recognizing the importance of protecting or enhancing ecological integrity for achieving climate and sustainability goals. However, there is a lack of clear definitions and guidance for IUCN Members, and members of IUCN Commissions on incorporating ecological integrity into planning and action. This session will fill this gap by bringing together a diverse group of experts from the IUCN-established Task Force on Ecological Integrity, as well as IUCN commission members, to lead a discussion on how ecological integrity can be defined, measured and used in the work of the IUCN commissions.
