Session Description

This session marks the high-level launch of the updated IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The Standard, developed through global consultation, provides a comprehensive framework for designing and implementing NbS to address societal challenges, including climate change adaptation and mitigation, ecosystem degradation and biodiversity loss.
Participants will explore the Standard’s eight criteria and associated indicators, which serve as benchmarks for assessing NbS impact and scaling solutions effectively. This session will highlight how the Standard supports policymakers, funding agencies, and practitioners in evaluating and enhancing NbS interventions.
Join this session to understand how to apply the updated Standard to real-world projects and discover actionable strategies for using NbS to build climate resilience, safeguard biodiversity, and achieve sustainable development goals. Learn from experts and case studies on how the Global Standard promotes nature-positive outcomes across diverse regions.
