The IUCN is revising the Green List Standard for Protected and Conserved Areas. This is an opportunity to engage in discussions on the revised IUCN Green List Standard. Participants will contribute feedback, and explore how the Standard can enhance site management, governance, and conservation effectiveness.

Session Description

The IUCN Green List Standard is undergoing an improvement, providing an opportunity for diverse conservation practitioners to engage in its refinement. This World Café session will bring together site managers, policymakers, IPs and LCs, tourism operators, and marine and freshwater conservationists to discuss key updates, challenges, and opportunities in applying the revised IUCN Green List Standard.

Participants will rotate through facilitated discussion tables, each focusing on critical themes such as climate resilience, governance, financing, and site monitoring. Insights will be consolidated and presented to the Standard Committee ahead of its April-May 2025 meeting, ensuring that diverse perspectives shape the final version.

This session is ideal for those seeking to understand the IUCN Green List Standard’s evolution, contribute to its improvement, and explore how it can drive conservation impact globally.
