Why attend

This event will showcase national biodiversity monitoring programs developed by Protected Area Agencies and discuss their relevance not only to biodiversity conservation, but also as a tool to engage local communities and the general public with PA management.

Session Description

This session will explore how activities that may appear purely scientific, such as collecting biodiversity data, can become powerful tools for conservation when embedded in well-structured programs. Far from being limited to academic outcomes, biodiversity monitoring can directly inform the management of protected areas, guiding decisions with reliable evidence. The discussion will highlight how these programs not only generate essential data for conservation policies but also foster integration across different cultures, knowledge systems, and stakeholders.
