Why attend

The goal of this session is to share lessons on the implementation of NPI in the Marine environment with specific reference to the offshore energy sector, identifying challenges corresponding solutions and opportunities to ensure contributions to nature positive goals from energy sector at the operational level.

Session Description

Operating in the marine environment presents unique challenges due to its dynamic and complex nature. To build a shared understanding of marine NPI principles and definitions, Ipieca has initiated a multi-phase process on the literature review covering concepts including the mitigation hierarchy, offsetting, non-offset actions, etc. A first stakeholder workshop was hosted to evaluate a draft set of marine NPI principles against the realities of operating in marine environments. The workshop aims to build consensus on a comprehensive set of marine NPI principles. Participants will collaboratively test and validate these principles through facilitated discussions. The outcome will be a published set of marine NPI principles applicable to the energy sectors and other stakeholders pursuing NPI in the marine environment.
