Particular qualifications:
I have dedicated more than 30 years to biodiversity conservation initiatives, strengthening and protecting indigenous knowledge and defending the rights of Indigenous Peoples. I have experience in leading debates and group work, having been Co-chair of the working group on article 8j of the CBD, Co-chair of the Platform of Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples in the UNFCCC, focal point for protected areas at the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (FIIB), in addition to Co-chair of the FIIB. I am currently the Mesoamerican focal point of IUCN's IPO members. I am currently Co-chair of the Voluntary Carbon Market Indigenous Peoples Forum. I have also carried out consultancies and case studies on various topics related to biodiversity conservation, climate change, coastal marine resources, invasive species, indigenous knowledge and other related topics. All this experience will allow me to contribute to strengthening and improving all IUCN initiatives.
Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:
I have participated in IUCN Congresses, Regional Forums and Leaders' Forum in 2023 and 2024, which has allowed me to learn about the initiatives led by IUCN globally. I currently represent IUCN IPOs in the IUCN Urban Alliance.
