Why attend

Discover how some of Africa’s leading community-led conservation organizations are transforming landscapes, delivering measurable impact, and shaping a new model of conservation that is more effective, equitable, and sustainable.

Session Description

Community-led conservation is one of the most powerful yet under-resourced strategies for achieving global biodiversity goals. This session will share data and mapping tools that demonstrate the collective scale and impact of Africa’s community conservation movement. Drawing on examples from Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, and beyond, participants will hear directly from local leaders who are achieving significant impact. The session will explore how shifting decision-making and resources to the ground not only delivers stronger conservation outcomes but also builds equity and resilience. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of why supporting community-led conservation is essential to achieving the Global Biodiversity Framework and how funders, policymakers, and practitioners can accelerate its scale.
