With twenty years of experience on environmental sector, and active participation in netwoks and international agreements in the framewok of Climate Change, Ramsar and Migratory Species conventions. Ms. Montañez is Natura Foundation Executive Director since 2011. Let the accreditation process of the Panama National Implementation Agency for the Adaptation Fund as well as the project proposal formulation for Panama. Associated Expert for Capacity Development Network part of the Regional Service Center for Latin America and The Caribbean UNDP between 2010 to 2012. She led the Ramsar Regional Center for Training and Research on Wetlands in the Western Hemisphere (CREHO) since its establishment, working for seven years with 29 contracting parties, networks and key partners on wetlands in the Americas, such as the regional centers in West and East Asia. She has a Master Degree on Environmental Management, with a degree on Law and Political Science, also specialice on planning for protected areas and NGO management from Tec Monterrey and studies to lead innovation from MIT.
Member of several regional and global committees, such as: the Waterbird Conservation Council of the Americas, (chair 2009-2010), the Global Task Force of migratory flyways of the Convention on Migratory Species and the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC) (Chair from 2015 to 2019), founder and member of Pacifico Foundation a regional environmental fund (Chair from 2020 to 2024). Member of national networks: National Wetlands Committee of Panama (founder), IUCN national committee, Interinstitutional Commission for the Panama Canal Watershed, and National Concerted Commission (high level group for dialogue directed to solve issues of national interest).
Ms. Montañez has been working, mainly related to management, institutional development, project design and monitoring, capacity development, environmental education, and community awareness. With experience working with key players from different cultures and sectors, developing tools for training, communication, cooperation, exchange, fundraising, designing, coordinating and evaluation of programs and projects. She has proven good communications skills, capacity to lead complex processes and maintain good working relations focusing on accomplishing goals.
