Imen MELIANE

Biography

Imèn Meliane is a global leader, with more than 20 years of experience advancing conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable development. Born in Tunisia, she has worked across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, bridging local realities with international policy.

Imèn has advised governments, multilateral agencies, and foundations in over 70 countries, shaping strategies on marine conservation, nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and facilitating access to climate finance. She has held senior roles with the Adaptation Fund, UNDP, The Nature Conservancy, and IUCN. Most recently, she served as Councillor and Vice President of IUCN, helping steer global environmental governance. She has also served as Vice Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, and contributed to major international conventions, including the UNFCCC and CBD.

She holds advanced degrees in marine environmental management from Tunisia and Spain, and is fluent in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
