Krizzley ORDOñEZ

Biography

Krizzley Ordoñez García is an 18-year-old young Indigenous leader. She was born in the rural community of Copal La Esperanza, Coban, Guatemala. During the internal conflict, her parents fled Guatemala and became refugees in Mexico.
Krizzley's father, Rigoberto Ordoñez, is an Indigenous leader and traditional authority. Since she was a child, Krizzley accompanied him to meetings and events, developing a passion for supporting Indigenous rural foods. She was part of a group of Indigenous youth working for the environment, with which she visited rural schools to organize activities and give talks related to the environment and Indigenous traditional knowledge related to sustainable nature management. She has organized activities to reduce conflict, strengthen Indigenous cultural identity, environmental walks, and farmers' market activities.
Krizzley graduates in 2024 as a Community Development Expert. She has experience with reforestation activities, organic production, agroforestry systems, and supporting women and children in community strengthening processes.
Her goals are to work on advocacy for the development and implementation of inclusive public policies for indigenous communities, continue her university studies, and support her family and community.
