Vatosoa RAKOTONDRAZAFY

Biography

Vatosoa Rakotondrazafy is a leading Malagasy conservationist and strong advocate for small-scale fishers and community-led resource management. From 2015 to 2020, she served as National Coordinator of the MIHARI Network, bringing together more than 200 associations and representing nearly half a million fishers across Madagascar. Her leadership earned her the prestigious Whitley Award in 2019 and recognition among the Top 100 Young African Conservation Leaders in 2021. She later joined the INDRI think tank, where she led the Alamino initiative to restore Madagascar’s forests. Vatosoa now serves as Regional Coastal and Ocean Governance Manager at IUCN.
