Dr. Onoja, the esteemed Director General of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), is a highly qualified and seasoned professional in the realm of conservation biology and environmental management. His impressive credentials include participation in the U.S State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on Protected Planet in 2017, showcasing his commitment to global conservation initiatives.

Possessing a PhD in Conservation Biology, Dr. Onoja earned this distinguished qualification from the A.P. Leventis Ornithological Research Institute (APLORI) of the University of Jos, in collaboration with St. Andrews University in the UK. This academic foundation underscores his profound expertise in the conservation of biodiversity.

Currently serving as the Director General of NCF, Dr. Onoja plays a pivotal role in guiding and overseeing the organization's multifaceted efforts in conservation and community development. His leadership has been instrumental in mobilizing substantial funding, surpassing $1,500,000 for various conservation and development projects across Nigeria. These initiatives encompass the preservation of forest landscapes, protection of wildlife species, community livelihood development, and advocacy endeavours related to conservation, climate change, and pollution issues—both on the national and international fronts.

Dr. Onoja's extensive educational background and professional experience position him as a distinguished figure in the field of conservation biology and environmental management in Nigeria. His influence extends globally, with invitations to speak at numerous domestic and international forums, including the prestigious Harvard University Salata Institute of Climate and Sustainability. Under his guidance, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation has made significant contributions to biodiversity conservation and environmental protection in the country. Dr Onoja is a member of the IUCN SSC and the WCPA. He also played a critical role as a member of the IUCN Niger Delta Biodiversity Technical Advisory Group (ND-BTAG)
