Sonja Kaulbarsch is a Biodiversity Specialist in the Environment Department of the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Unit at Eni Global Natural Resources (formerly Eni Upstream), based at the company’s headquarters in Milan, Italy. Since 2021, she has been supporting subsidiaries in Italy and worldwide with the implementation of Eni’s Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES) management model, including the design and delivery of Biodiversity Action Plans. She also provides broader technical support on BES management for Eni’s upstream activities, both at subsidiary and HQ level, and contributes to the preparation of internal technical guidance. Sonja teaches part of the biodiversity module of the Eni HSEQ Master’s course (run in collaboration with the University of Pisa) and is active in several industry association task forces on biodiversity. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences and an MSc in Conservation and Biodiversity from the University of Exeter and before joining Eni worked as an ecological consultant in the UK.
