Sarah ROBERTS

Biography

Sarah L. Roberts is an accomplished policy and external affairs advisor with over two decades of experience advancing environmental governance, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience across government, multilateral, and non-profit sectors. Currently serving as Senior Policy Advisor for Conservation & Climate Finance Policy at The Nature Conservancy, Sarah leads strategic government engagement on sovereign debt refinancing projects, aligning conservation efforts with national and international commitments.

Her career spans influential roles including Head of International Environment Negotiations at the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where she shaped the UK’s positions for the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and G7/G20 Environment and Agriculture tracks.  As Head of External Affairs and International Engagement at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, she spearheaded global partnerships and policy influence.  Sarah also spent circa 10 years working in politics in Canada, holding senior policy positions with the Ontario Minister of Economic Development and the Minister of Finance.

Sarah holds a Master’s in International Public Policy from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, with a focus on global environmental governance and international policy. She has represented institutions and governments at major international UN fora.  Her work is distinguished by a pragmatic, collaborative and inclusive approach to policy development and stakeholder engagement, and a deep commitment to nature-based solutions and sustainable development.
