Lesley DICKIE

Biography

Dr Lesley Dickie is the Executive Vice President of BirdLife International (BLI), the largest civil society partnership for nature and the global Red List authority for birds.  At BLI she has responsibility for conservation programmes, the six regional offices of BLI and the Partnership function. She has particular oversight of BLI's global work on flyways, the migratory routes of the world's birds. Lesley has extensive experience in the interface between ex situ and in situ conservation as she began her career in zoos at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. After completing field work in Madagascar and finishing her doctorate she began working at the Zoological Society of London’ . From 2008 to 2014 Lesley was the Executive Director of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, the world's largest zoo association, and from 2016 to 2023 the Chief Executive Officer of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
