PARANY LILIANE

Biography

Liliane Parany is Head of the Department of Quality, Resource Mobilization, and Monitoring & Evaluation at Madagascar National Parks, the institution responsible for managing 48 protected areas across the country. A forestry engineer specialized in environmental sciences, biodiversity management, and natural resource governance, she brings over 15 years of experience in protected area management and conservation.

A pioneer in developing fire management strategies within Madagascar’s protected area network, her technical expertise also covers pressure management, forest and landscape restoration, governance and legal frameworks of protected areas, as well as community support for sustainable development.

She is currently focusing her expertise on partnerships, fundraising, and monitoring & evaluation to strengthen the efficiency of Madagascar’s protected area network. She also plays a key role in promoting the international recognition of these protected areas through prestigious designations and labels (World Heritage, Biosphere Reserves, IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas, etc.).
