Session Description

This workshop will showcase inspiring community-led ecosystem restoration initiatives from across Africa, spanning diverse ecosystems such as seagrass meadows, forests, soils, and mangroves. Participants will hear from local leaders and experts representing different African subregions, each presenting concrete examples of restoration efforts with strong community participation. The session will highlight the crucial role of youth, Indigenous Peoples, and Local Communities (IPLCs) in ensuring the long-term success and equity of conservation action. Through interactive presentations and a final discussion, attendees will gain insights into key success factors, challenges, and innovative approaches that can be adapted and scaled for greater conservation impact. By creating a platform for exchange, the event will foster interregional collaboration, amplify lessons from the African Conservation Forum, and contribute to building more resilient, equitable, and inclusive pathways for nature-based solutions and large-scale restoration in Africa.
