Loreley Picourt

Biography

Loreley Picourt is the Executive Director of the Ocean & Climate Platform (OCP) – an international network from civil society mobilised for “a healthy ocean, a protected climate”.

As a strong advocate for multilateral cooperation, she works at the science-policy interface for a better integration of the ocean-climate-biodiversity nexus into decision-making. She coordinates OCP’s work on policy and international relations. At the UNFCCC, Loreley is the ‘Ocean and Coastal Zones’ focal point of the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action Agenda, where she coordinates the Ocean Breakthroughs. 

She is also Ocean Taskforce Lead for the Sharm el Sheikh Action Agenda and part of the Specialized Group of Experts on Ocean of the Nairobi Work Programme on adaptation. For the 3rd UN Ocean Conference, she was mandated by France and Costa Rica to mobilise civil society with campaigns such as "Our Blue Future" and the "Ocean Protection Principle".
Loreley is a Friend of Ocean Action and an Edinburgh Ocean Leader. 

She holds an MSc in Environmental Policy from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Environmental Economics from the University of York.
