A graduate of HEC Montréal in finance and international economics, Frédérique Thomas obtained a master’s degree in management and international development from the Université de Sherbrooke, and a CPA designation a few years later.
Frédérique gained experience in consulting and financial management with private companies before joining the world of NGOs in 2011. Passionate about economic “empowerment” as part of the solution to the social inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized people, particularly women, Frédérique plays a central role in the inclusion and outreach of this theme and especially sexual justice within the programs of Mission Inclusion, a Quebec-based NGO.
Since February 2021, she has held the position of Director of SOCODEVI in Senegal. In this capacity, she assumes program responsibility for several projects funded by Global Affairs Canada and Quebec's Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie, including Natur'ELLES, a C$20 million project for mangrove protection and conservation, inclusive governance of natural resources and economic empowerment of vulnerable populations living in mangrove ecosystems.
