Shane ORCHARD

Biography

Shane is a conservation scientist based in New Zealand working on the protection and restoration of aquatic environments. He is the current Oceania Regional Chair for CEM and the CEM National Focal Point for Aotearoa New Zealand. Shane is also an IUCN commission member with WCPA and contributes to several of the specialist/thematic groups within both WCPA and CEM. Outside of IUCN he works as an independent consultant on water resource management specialising in ecohydrology and environmental change. He is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Canterbury and contributes to government funded research projects. He has a long history of involvement with the nature-based recreation sector, particularly watersports and recreational fishing, and is a keen photographer.
