Biography

Dr. Hany El-Shaer is a highly accomplished environmental leader and conservation expert with over 25 years of experience across government and international organizations in biodiversity conservation, protected areas management, and sustainable development. As the Regional Director of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in West Asia since 2018, Dr. El-Shaer leads strategic conservation efforts across the region, managing multi-million-dollar programme portfolios and forging partnerships with governments, donors, NGOs, and the private sector.
