Why attend

Discover how integrated approaches under the three Rio Conventions—UNFCCC, UNCCD, and CBD—can drive more effective climate, land, and biodiversity outcomes. The side event highlights opportunities for policy alignment, data sharing, and joint implementation to achieve global environmental goals.

Session Description

This side event explores practical ways to strengthen synergies among the Rio Conventions—the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Through case studies and expert insights, the discussion will highlight successful examples of integrated planning, resource mobilization, and cross-sectoral cooperation at national and regional levels. Speakers will examine how shared indicators, nature-based solutions, and coordinated financing can enhance implementation of the three conventions. The event aims to inspire more coherent environmental governance and support countries in translating global commitments into effective, synergistic actions on the ground.
