Session Description

The BIOPAMA partnership combines the protected areas and the biodiversity conservation expertise of IUCN with the scientific know how of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC). Launched in 2012 and reaching its conclusion at IUCN Congress in 2025, BIOPAMA has been one of IUCN's largest and longest-running grant programmes, as well as the largest biodiversity granting facility of the European Union. Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific together host some of the world's most diverse, intact and best-managed protected and conserved areas on the planet. Implemented across 79 countries, with almost 160 grantees and 60 million euros, BIOPAMA has laid the foundations and advanced progress towards achieving global goals such as the GBF and SDGs. This Press Conference will showcase the launch of the BIOPAMA Impact Report - a collation of one of the largest and most impactful conservation initiatives in IUCN's history.
