Why attend
In this session, co-hosted by IUCN and TNFD, we’ll provide an overview of the TNFD recommendations and guidance and explore the significance to the scientific community, featuring two short presentations and a panel discussion, followed by an interactive discussion with attendees in the room.
Session Description
Halting and reversing biodiversity loss and nature degradation requires whole-of-society action to reach the goals and deliver the transition implied by the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework – including action from business and finance. The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has created a set of recommendations and guidance aimed at corporates and financial institutions, to guide the assessment and disclosure of nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities (nature-related issues). For stakeholder groups outside of business and finance, at first glance, the relevance of the TNFD recommendations and guidance may seem minimal, but there are key aspects, especially for a conservation-focused audience, to explore and understand. There are learnings and guidance within the LEAP approach for nature-related issues assessment, TNFD’s metrics architecture, its guidance on engagement with Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and affected stakeholders, and other aspects of understanding an organisation’s interface with nature as part of wider landscapes, ecosystems and economies.Organised by
