Session Description
This presentation offers a comprehensive overview of the Sharjah Strandings Response Program (SSRP), an initiative that integrates four core components: a research program, a long-term monitoring program, a marine life rescue program, and an educational tool that uses real-world stranding events to support evidence-based conservation action and policy. The SSRP focuses on documenting and responding to strandings of marine reptiles, marine mammals, and seabirds across the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman coasts of Sharjah. The programme generates critical regional data on biology, ecology and threats faced by marine fauna in the region helping to shape science-driven management, facilitate animal rescue and raise public and institutional awareness.Organised by
