Why attend

PPPs for ecotourism have been used in many countries for funding conservation in Brazil and abroad. We will discuss the benefits and how to structure PPPs with experts with large experiences in conservation and ecotourism in over 50 projects developed it Latin America, Africa and Middle East.

Session Description

Public-private partnerships have been widely used as a tool to finance conservation in protected areas worldwide through ecotourism. Since the creation of ICMBIO, Brazil has strengthened partnerships in Brazilian national parks, an experience that has gained scale and is now even seen as a source of inspiration by other countries. The UAE, through EN WWF and Natureza Urbana, has structured projects using this strategy. The panel will address these experiences, which have resulted in fruitful cooperation between institutions in both countries and may inspire further international cooperation.
