Attend this session to understand how IUCN motions are developed and shape global policy. Learn how Indigenous Peoples’ priorities are reflected, and why Indigenous leadership is central in guiding resolutions, influencing third parties, and strengthening IUCN’s inclusive decision-making processes.

Session Description

This session will guide participants through the technical process of how motions are developed, debated, voted on, and if adopted become resolutions at the IUCN Congress. Members will gain a clear understanding of the procedural steps with which IUCN Members influence third parties and guide the policy and Programme of IUCN. Following this overview, the session will highlight and present the motions put forward by Indigenous Peoples Organization (IPO) members, showcasing their priorities and contributions to strengthening Indigenous leadership and perspectives within IUCN decision-making.
