Session Description

The Biodiversity Collage is an interactive workshop that invites participants to explore the complex and interconnected world of biodiversity. Using scientific data from the IPBES report, participants work in small groups with 39 illustrated cards to uncover links between ecosystems, species, human pressures, and environmental impacts. The session combines hands-on activities—such as building ecosystem models, mapping cause-and-effect chains, and creatively presenting collages—with group reflection to spark dialogue and solutions. By the end, participants gain a deeper understanding of how biodiversity underpins ecosystem services and planetary health, while also recognizing the consequences of deforestation, pollution, and climate change. The workshop fosters systems thinking, creativity, and teamwork, empowering participants to act as biodiversity stewards in their communities and beyond.
