Pedro MENEZES

Biographie

Pedro da Cunha e Menezes is Brazil´s National Director of Protected Areas. Pedo is one of the founding members of the Transcarioca Trail and is currently a Director of the Brazilian Trails Network. Pedro was Chief Superintendent of Tijuca National Park, National Director and General Coordinator for Visitor Services at ICMBio (Brazil National Parks Service, Brazil´s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environmental Programme in Nairobi, and a member of Brazil´s official delegations to the United Nations Conventions on Climate Change, Desertification, Migratory Species, Biological Diversity, Ramsar and the UNESCO Convention on the World Heritage Sites. Pedro is, also, on the Board of the World Trails Network. Pedro was the Chair of the Board of the environmental electronic news agency OECO.COM.BR and has published 15 books and more than 150 articles on parks, ecotourism and trails. Pedro is a trails enthusiast and an avid hiker, mountain biker and scuba diver, having hiked in more than 1100 protected areas in 115 countries.
