Mesoamerica is a breeding ground for innovations in sustainable agriculture. The audience will learn how IUCN and regional integration bodies catalyse an agreed agenda at the local, national, and regional levels, showcasing these innovations to operationalize the agriculture–environment nexus and advance toward biodiverse and sustainable landscapes.

In the face of the climate, biodiversity, and social inequality crises, a paradigm shift is urgently needed—one that values the contribution of the rural sector to food security, stability, and social justice by integrating the conservation, sustainable use, and restoration of biodiversity. The session will present the results of previous dialogues led by the Secretariat of the Central American Agricultural Council and IUCN, highlighting Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and regional opportunities, and will advance a common agenda between agriculture and nature. Experiences, evidence, and local, national, and regional priorities will be shared to enable scaling, identifying points of convergence and joint actions with producers, authorities, IUCN Members, the Commission on Ecosystems, and the Secretariat. The session will address:
• Practices for the sustainable management of water, soil, and biodiversity, and equitable territorial governance.
• Financing for transformative changes in agriculture.
• Transformative public policies.
