Increased awareness and understanding of NbS financing pathways specific to the Pacific context.
Descripción de la sesión
Nature-based Solutions (NbS) offer a powerful, cost-effective, and inclusive approach to addressing climate change impacts while restoring ecosystems and improving community resilience. In the Pacific, where island nations face acute climate vulnerabilities, NbS can serve as a frontline response for both adaptation and mitigation. However, scaling up implementation remains hindered by financing gaps and the lack of tailored financial instruments.Mainstreaming NbS into regional and national finance strategies requires innovative mechanisms that can mobilise funding from both the public and private sectors. Climate adaptation and mitigation funds, green bonds, blended finance, and carbon markets represent untapped opportunities to drive investment in NbS across the Pacific. There is an urgent need to align these resources with existing community-led and ecosystem-based efforts.
This high-level event will provide a platform to explore pathways for embedding NbS financing into national climate and development frameworks and to foster cross-sectoral collaboration.
