The session will be presented by local stakeholders and commented on by decision-makers. The lessons learned have application for donors, organizations, government agencies, and IUCN.

Description de la séance

This session analyzes the potential of small grants as a strategy to promote ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). By having strong ties to communities, small grants increase adaptation capacities of local people and grassroots organizations. This session will analyze the processes that were effective in engaging grassroots organizations, as well as the factors that were limiting. Results and impacts in Guatemala will be presented, narrated by main stakeholders. Communities have been empowered, and there are results in EbA. Courses of action will be proposed for donors, organizations implementing donations, and IUCN. The session will analyze the factors that enabled organizations implementing small grants to have an impact, showing the steps followed in the Resilient Highlands Project as a case study. Key recommendations for implementing small grants for donors, community-based organizations, and IUCN will be derived.
