Practical examples of biodiversity-based One Health approaches in Asia, with governance, legal, policy, corporate, and youth models. Highlights cross-sector partnerships linking biodiversity, health, climate, and SDGs for integrated conservation outcomes.
Description de la séance
This side event highlights the urgency of integrating biodiversity into the One Health approach in Asia, where biodiversity hotspots overlap with dense populations, production landscapes, and zoonotic spillover risks. It aims to demonstrate how biodiversity conservation strengthens health security, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Through short case studies and policy perspectives, the session will showcase practical ways to embed biodiversity into surveillance, governance, corporate responsibility, and youth engagement. It will feature examples on disease risk management, nature-for-health initiatives, sustainable trade standards, legal frameworks, and financing mechanisms. A moderated panel will explore synergies, barriers, and opportunities for mainstreaming biodiversity into One Health, including the roles of laws, corporate sectors, and development finance. Expected outcomes include actionable policy insights, practical tools and standards, cross-sector collaboration, and contributions to Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets on protected areas, species recovery, sustainable use, and participatory governance.Moderator
