Climate change poses an existential risk today to humans and nature alike. Attend this session to hear from leading decision makers and voices around the world on what solutions are available and what is needed to overcome this crisis.
Description de la séance
The world today is getting dangerously close to a climate overshoot. 2024 was the warmest year on record, and the first calendar year when the average global temperature exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. While GHG emissions need to be cut 43% by 2030, compared to 2019 levels, current climate plans cut emissions by only 2.6% by 2030. This session will explore the range of climate solutions that are available today, from those based on nature to those centred on technology, to those that are still beyond the horizon, such as geoengineering. Senior leaders from the worlds of government, finance, science and civil society will weigh the pros and cons of each, and debate what the right balance should be, how ambition can be raised, and implementation barriers overcome. The plenary will also reflect on the upcoming UNFCCC COP30 in Belém, and what it can deliver for climate, people and nature.Partenaires
