Description de la séance

This dynamic session will spotlight innovative solutions to prevent ship strikes—one of the leading causes of death for large whales. Led by Ocean Wise, the session will launch the international expansion of the Whale Report Alert System (WRAS), a cutting-edge tool that uses citizen science, infrared cameras and hydrophones to detect whales and alert vessels to their presence in real time. Through presentation and interactive Q&A, participants will explore the intersection of technology, conservation, and industry collaboration. Attendees will gain insights into sustainable shipping practices, environmental DNA, and AI for conservation. Participants will also be invited to contribute to the development of a roadmap to scale ship strike solutions globally. The session will additionally offer a unique opportunity to network with other IUCN members committed to safeguarding whales.
